Window Company Website Redesign

About the project

The company Balko, which provides services for the sale and installation of metal-plastic windows, turned to us with a request for SEO-promotion of its website. One glance at the resource was enough to set a complete redesign of the site as the first task without conducting tests and analyzing the main metrics.

We approached the issue in a comprehensive manner, updating not only the appearance, but also the content component. Infographics, price lists in the form of tables and several varieties of online calculators were added to the existing texts. We will tell you more about all the changes in this case.

Radical change of image

The initial version of the site did not look very inspiring (although it tried) and had a number of problems. The most notable of these was the massive header of the site, which featured:

  • too large logo;
  • a scattering of 6 phone numbers;
  • a panoramic photograph of Kyiv, which tried to hint at the place of the company’s activities, but did not say it clearly.

If we talk about the design as a whole, the chosen color palette created a clear feeling of cheapness. The visitor might get the impression that you can order very cheap windows here, but the quality is out of the question. Well, we decided to correct this misunderstanding. Armed with analytics and studying the solutions of competitors, our designers provided a new look for the project.

Literally everything has changed: the color scheme, the space used, the design of banners and even the company logo. The site began to feel more spacious and fresh.

We managed to solve the key problem of the old design – to reduce the height of the header by almost 3 times, retaining all the information and adding ease of perception. Here is what we did to achieve this effect:

  • reduced the size of the logo;
  • hid all phone numbers in the drop-down menu available when hovering over the main number;
  • instead of a panorama of Kyiv, wrote the address of the office in text.

Other elements of the home page have not changed as drastically, but have also gained a second wind. For example, the section with projects received a clear title, an updated arrangement of elements, and photos in the same color scheme.

Also, the abovementioned logo received a new version and began to better reflect the values of the company. We «calmed down» the colors, added a caption and played with two of the company’s main products – windows and balconies – in the illustration.

Service Pages

The Balko website contains dozens of pages of services and sub-services. Each of them contains a lot of useful information, but earlier it was presented only in text. The only difference to the page was the headings and basic formatting techniques, such as using bold.

In the new version, we decided to move away from text canvases as much as possible. Customers are now greeted with a carefully designed first screen that contains a list of key benefits, a list of partners and a contact form. This solution not only improves the perception of information, but also increases the conversion of pages.

The subsequent information blocks are designed to help visitors decide on a product choice. Clients are often not versed in technical nuances and terminology, therefore, in the description of profiles and fittings, we use universal signatures and three types of indicators: «light», «heat» и «noise». This technique helps to explain the difference in price and choose the right product.

Each service page uses its own information blocks that fulfill their intended purpose: detailed price lists relieve the load on managers and set the right expectations, schematic illustrations clearly represent the benefits of goods, and a gallery of works shows what a balcony will look like in real life.

Interactive elements

If a site visitor can interact with the content in some way, this significantly increases the chances of them converting into a client. Focusing on this feature, we have developed several online calculators with a feedback form. Visitors can indicate the profile system, its characteristics and the number of chambers in the glazing unit. After that, the calculator will calculate the final cost and offer to call the measurer.

But the matter was not limited to calculators. For example, on one of the pages, users can independently choose the appropriate color for the window by choosing the option they like from the following suggestions.

We have carried out a radical redesign of the site, completely updating the look and feel of the content. The solutions used, such as infoblocks and interactive elements, had a positive impact on the overall perception of the site and its conversion. It has become easier for visitors to perceive information, tariffs are now more affordable, and you can call a measurer in several places on one page.
